Europe and Russia: competition and regulation in energy markets
ESMT Conference Corporate Russia on the Rise explores price development and supply security in the gas markets
Press information and invitationBerlin, June 16, 2008
Energy prices and supply guarantee are important aspects for the European economy and consumer. The staggering rise in energy prices and the growing usage of energy supply disruption as a lever of political influence is unsettling.
The European Commission is currently reassessing the regulatory framework of energy markets. Regulation needs to support much needed investment in environmentally friendly and efficient power supply without overburdening business or consumers.
The Annual Forum Corporate Russia on the Rise, being held by ESMT European School of Management and Technology, will explore this issue as one of three key topics. Panel participants discussing the regulatory challenges of EU-Russia energy relations are Antonio Borges (Chairman of the European Corporate Governance Institute), Martin Hellwig (Professor, Bonn Graduate School of Economics), Evgeniy Pogrebnyak (Head of Economic Research Russian Development Bank) and Xavier Vives (Professor, IESE Business School). The podium discussion will be moderated by ESMT Professor Michal Grajek.
The ESMT Annual Forum Corporate Russia on the Rise will be held June 25 – 26, 2008 at ESMT European School of Management and Technology, Schlossplatz 1, 10178 Berlin.
