The Executive Transition Program specifically targets a diverse mix of experienced managers who are being groomed for higher general management responsibilities within their companies. They wish to fill the gaps in their knowledge of essential management skills to succeed as effective and responsible business leaders.

Target Audience

ETP target participants

Proven profesionals in their 30s and 40s from all educational and industrial backgrounds:

  • leading a business-unit management team or a regional subsidiary
  • in charge of a new product, market or major project initiative
  • typically employed by large groups operating globally or regionally
  • with confidence in spoken English

ETP past participants and their level of responsibility 2004-2008

Meet the Faculty

Urs Müller (Program Director)
Full biography

Urs Müller's areas of expertise include strategy, change management, ethics and intercultural management. Before coming to ESMT, he was a consultant for A.T. Kearney and taught at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, Germany, at the Uniwersytet Mikołaja Kopernika in Torun, Poland, and at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA.
Luc Wathieu (Program Director)
Full biography

Prof. Luc Wathieu joined ESMT in September 2007 and three months later was appointed to Associate Dean of Faculty. Prior to joining ESMT he was a professor at Harvard Business School for the last ten years. A native of Belgium, Luc obtained both his PhD and MSc in Management from INSEAD, as well a MSc in Economics from the University of Namur. His field of specialization is marketing, with emphasis in customer behavior and marketing strategy. In general, his research seeks to understand how firms can bring and maintain customers in a high state of engagement and willingness to pay. Luc’s published in leading journals and is an associate editor for Management Science in addition to being on the editorial boards of the Journal of Consumer Research, the International Journal of Research in Marketing and Recherche et Applications en Marketing. At Harvard Luc developed a popular MBA elective course entitled “Understanding Customers,” which helped students develop needed competencies in conceptualizing and researching consumer issues. He was also on the faculty of two flagship executive education programs: the Strategic Marketing Management Program and the Senior Executive Program for China.
