December 15 & 16, 2010
ESMT Campus, Berlin, Germany
The Center for Leadership Development Research at the ESMT European School of Management and Technology in Berlin, Germany runs the 2nd ESMT Coaching Colloquium “The Courage to Coach: When the Coach is on the Line.” This event builds on the success of the 1st ESMT Coaching Colloquium held in December 2009. The 2010 Colloquium will serve as a further opportunity for academics, practicing leadership coaches, Human Resources and Learning and Development professionals, and management consultants to enhance their knowledge, skills, and networks through a day of intensive collaboration and peer-consultation on difficult cases in the practice of leadership coaching. We will be working with real cases presented by real coaches, faculty, and learning and development managers and commented upon by fellow professionals. We will create a coaching laboratory with an opportunity to learn and to contribute to the learning of others. A series of panel discussions, small group peer consultations sessions, fish-bowl experiences and interactive exercises involving science and art will enrich the participant’s conceptual understanding of coaching and their practical tool set collection. Participants’ contributions may be considered for inclusion in subsequent publications.
NEW for 2010: A fishbowl coach supervision session; A session on psychodynamic concepts in coaching.
To take part in the Colloquium, participants will be expected to submit a short paper describing a difficult leadership coaching case from their practice and a separate description of their way of handling that particular situation. All submissions will be reviewed by the Convenors for suitability for the Colloquium. Authors of accepted papers will be able to register for the Colloquium at a reduced “Participant” fee of Euro 125*. Participants will be assigned several papers authored by other people and will have to write a short comment on how they would have handled the described situations. Participants will be expected to present their papers and their comments on other people’s papers at the Colloquium.
A limited number of authors of the papers that are not accepted for presentation at the Colloquium or those who do not have a case to contribute may be accepted to the Colloquium as Observers. An “Observer” fee for taking part in the Colloquium is Euro 475.*
