Axel Stahmer
PhD Fellow
Axel Stahmer is a student in the Berlin Doctoral Program in Economics & Management Science. He was awarded an Einstein Foundation Stipend in 2011.
Axel studied Business Administration with a major in Capital Markets and Finance in Munich (LMU) and Paris (ESSEC), where he was rewarded with the Dean’s List fellowship. Shortly after receiving his degree in 2006, Axel went to work for JP Morgan’s investment banking division. He permanently joined JP Morgan’s trading floor in London as a structurer for equity and hybrid derivatives, after completion of the New York based training program. Before pursuing his BDPEMS PhD fellowship in 2011, Axel founded a new business with his brother in 2010. Given his background, Axel’s research interests lie in the fields of financial markets as well as behavioral economics.
