ESMT: What is your current responsibility?
Gagan: I am currently working as a consultant on the client service team.
What kind of development does this job mean to you compared to your pre-MBA career? Why did you choose this job?
I hope to gain a broader understanding of the corporate world, especially the working of the top management in different companies. This would not have been possible in my earlier job. I joined McKinsey for the learning and the experience which I can gain. Also, the fact that it is ranked as the best company to work for in the world helped me in reaching the decision, despite offers from other top consulting companies.
How did ESMT MBA prepare you for this job?
I could not have had the job without my MBA at ESMT. The fact that McKinsey is involved with ESMT and came for the campus recruiting events was a big help, as was the recommendation given by a professor regarding my suitability for the role. ESMT was instrumental in increasing my confidence in my abilities through constant interaction with some of the top-most executives of the biggest German companies, not only in Germany but also in China.
