Learning environment

ESMT turns classroom learning into a highly interactive experiential environment. Through case-studies, group exercises, and business simulations, our high-impact learning approach challenges you to translate modern management concepts into real-life action. This offers you the ideal environment in which to reflect upon your leadership style.
Collaborative learning
Effective leaders need to be both excellent team players and people managers. Outside the classroom, you will work together in diverse, constantly changing study groups. From sharing experience and working together on group assignments to dealing with stress and conflict, this form of intensive teamwork strengthens your leadership skills and your ability to operate across business functions.
Innovation through application
Company-related assignments challenge you to develop your entrepreneurial skills. As a project sponsor, your company will also immediately benefit from the rich input of workable solutions to real-life business issues.
Learning and Research Support
Your life-long network
Embarking on the ESMT Executive MBA journey entails more than taking courses and goes beyond just getting a degree. It means developing new friendships and opens the door to our fast-growing alumni network.
We know that you have a life outside of your work and studies, and we know that the support of your key partners or family members is crucial for your success at work and in the classroom. We would like to be there if and when you need assistance and counsel. During the course of the Executive MBA program, partners and spouses will also be invited to get to know the program and to take part in extra-curricular events.
Interaction through technology
Between residential modules, you will remain in close contact with your peers and your study group via the ESMT eLearning Platform. This platform allows you to prepare and hand in assignments, and to download and discuss readings and cases. It also facilitates real time online interaction between group members via chats, forums and wikis.
Research support
Most of the resources on offer at the Information Center are available online, offering you immediate access to research databases, full text journal articles, market data and company information. The ESMT team offers customized training research support services.
Campuses
The ESMT Executive MBA takes advantage of the School’s learning facilities, including leading edge campuses in Berlin and Schloss Gracht near Cologne, with on-site catering, WiFi (WLAN) and IT support, and affordable quality accommodation nearby. To enhance the learning process with first-hand experience, some of the ESMT Executive MBA modules address special topics and may take place in other European cities and corporate locations.
Campus Berlin
Located at the very center of a truly international and vibrant city, our historic campus at Schlossplatz 1 itself exemplifies Europe’s cultural heritage. In addition to the building’s remarkable past, you will find modern study rooms and state-of-the-art auditoria with a panoramic view over some of Berlin’s most famous landmarks.
Campus Schloss Gracht
The moated castle of Schloss Gracht is a place of utter tranquillity which serves today’s executives as a retreat from the bustle of modern business. The secluded campus provides an unparalleled environment for focused study and skills development workshops.
Corporate locations
To combine theory and practice we may hold some courses at corporate locations. You will be able to relate the learned concepts to procedures implemented in the corporations we visit.
International field seminar
Towards the end of your studies, you and your fellow participants will travel outside Germany to become immersed in a cross-cultural dialogue. You will gain first-hand insights from seminars, meetings and discussions with foreign experts, recognize local contexts and evaluate them in the global business environment. The location of the field project varies from year to year, depending on current issues facing the global economy.
