Press release
Berlin, November 26, 2009

On November 26-27, 2009, the Association of Competition Economics (ACE) is holding its annual conference at ESMT European School of Management and Technology. ACE is Europe’s largest association of competition specialists and brings together experts from government, academia and the private sector. This year, renowned participants from the area of competition economics include Anne Perrot, Vice-Chair of the French competition administration Autorité de la Concurrence, Christian Ewald, Head of the Economics Unit, German Federal Cartel Office, and Peter Davis, Deputy Chairman of the UK Competition Commission and new President of ACE.

"Consistent with ESMT’s approach, the ACE conference brings together theory and practice, and we are proud to host such an important event," said Lars-Hendrik Röller, President of ESMT and former Chief Economist at DG COMP. "It is another example of the pioneering role ESMT plays in competition economics."

During the 7th Annual ACE Conference current cases will be discussed. The two-day conference includes a plenary session on economic assessment of competitive damages and nine parallel sessions on cases and issues of general concern for competition economics, such as the merger of TicketMaster and Live Nation, Project Kangaroo, the German cement cartel and Intel.

"European competition regulation is the basis for strengthening Europe’s competitiveness. We should use this opportunity to discuss with experts from around the world and to work toward the development of best practices for competition in Europe," said Anne Perrot, current president of ACE. Peter Davis, who was appointed new President of ACE today, comments, "ACE plays a unique and important role. During my tenure I look forward to helping build on ACE’s strengths and significant past successes."
