ESMT: Paul Heidhues joins faculty as Lufthansa Chair in Competition and Regulation

- ESMT continues build-up of expertise in the area of European competition
ESMT European School of Management and Technology welcomed Paul Heidhues as full professor and the Lufthansa Chair in Competition and Regulation today. He has also been named Director of PhD studies. Stefan Lauer, Member of the Executive Board of Deutsche Lufthansa AG and ESMT Foundation Board of Trustees member said, "With the endowment of this professorship at ESMT, Lufthansa shows its support of the leading international business school in Germany and the further development of its core competence in competition and regulation."
Paul Heidhues received a PhD in Economics from Rice University in Texas and went on to do his Habilitation at Humboldt University, Berlin. The German-American was most recently employed as an associate professor for economic theory at the University of Bonn. His research interests include (behavioral) industrial organization, competition policy, behavioral economics, and applied game theory. He is currently an associate editor of the BE Journals in Theoretical Economics and the Journal of Industrial Economics. He is also a CEPR Research Affiliate in Industrial Organization, an elected member of the industrial organization as well as the economic theory committee of the Verein für Socialpolitik, and is a member of the research group of the German Federal Cartel Office (Arbeitskreis Kartellrecht).
