E.ON Chair in Corporate Responsibility
First named chair at a renowned institution of higher education in company history

In his inaugural lecture “Good is not Enough: Maximizing Value from Corporate Responsibility,” Chairholder Professor C.B. Bhattacharya emphasized the importance of going beyond traditional business thinking. He says, “We should use Corporate Responsibility to strengthen stakeholder relationships and to therefore, also strengthen the company as a whole. I look forward to researching and teaching to this aim at ESMT, especially in light of the unique corporate support and ooperation the school receives.”
Dr. Wulf H. Bernotat, CEO, of E.ON AG, and member of the Executive Committee of the ESMT Board of Trustees, described this as a milestone for the up-and-coming business school: “With this Chair in Corporate Responsibility, E.ON and ESMT together continue to expand upon one of the founding principles of ESMT, the notion of responsible leadership.” He continued, “In times like these, when the ´how´ of management is growing in the public focus, it is only consistent to put Corporate Responsibility at the top of the agenda for managers of tomorrow. E.ON is proud to give this Chair our name and to profit from the sustainable value of its teaching and research.”

The E.ON Chair in Corporate Responsibility will be financed by E.ON for five years and is E.ON’s first named professorship
