Becoming future international business leaders entails more than being functional specialists in finance, marketing, or operations. Managers now need a cross-functional perspective to bridge departmental, legal, and cultural lines within a global organization. The ESMT MBA program develops international leaders through an innovative approach to theory, practice, and personal development training.

Program dates

Program dates

ESMT’s MBA is a 12-month program. Classes begin in January and finish in December of each year. The next MBA program starts on January 7, 2019.

In addition to the core program, some students take advantage of unique opportunities to further their educational or career goals:

  • Global Network for Advanced Management Network Weeks: Spend a week taking elective courses at one of ESMT’s network partners.
  • Beijing Exchange Program: Up to two students per year extend their MBA by 6 months to take further MBA courses at the Peking University Guanghua School of Management.
  • Responsible Leadership Fellowship: In coordination with ESMT's Circle of Friends, MBA graduates can delay their job search for 6 months to volunteer in social impact organizations organized by ESMT. Living stipends and travel expenses provided.


Optional pre-MBA courses run from October 1 to December 31, 2018, including: Intensive German course at GLS (German Language School Berlin), full access to ESMT campus facilities, scheduled meeting with ESMT Career Services Advisor, ability to participate in ESMT Master Classes and Open Lectures, integration into ESMT MBA Club activities, and networking opportunities with current MBA class. Cost: €1,500.

Admission requirements

Admission requirements

To be considered for the ESMT international MBA program, students need to have:

  • At least three years of professional, postgraduate experience
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Strong GMAT or GRE scores
  • For non-native English speakers, TOEFL scores (95 minimum) or equivalent; please ask our admissions office whether you qualify for a TOEFL waiver based on your professional or academic exposure to English
  • Completed online application
  • Personal interview on campus or by Skype

Tuition and fees

Total tuition + fees: € 43,500

* Fees include the cost of books and cases. They do not include accommodation, the optional pre-MBA course (which costs €1,500), travel to and from the optional international field seminar and Global Network exchanges.


Living in Berlin:

MBA students should budget enough money to cover their apartment, insurance, public transportation or bicycle, food, and entertainment. We recommend budgeting €1,000 to €1,500 a month. Berlin is a relatively cheap city when compared to other European capitals.
