2015 ESMT OB Mini-conference

July 9–10 in the Forum at ESMT Please note: participation is by invitation only.

As with our previous events, it targets scholars from European business schools. There were a total of six 30-minutes presentations held by renowned scholars in the field of leadership:

In addition to these presentations, OB-faculty from ESMT and other business school had the chance to share their research ideas with each other on the second day of the event. Participants were invited to present their paper in a “speed presentation” format. This format invites the participants to offer the highlights of their paper in a condensed form (roughly 10 minutes) and to share a copy of the full paper with those who are interested afterwards. After each presentation there was a short Q&A from the audience.


7th ESMT/KDVI Coaching Colloquium

Coaching Leaders for Followership


December 4–5, 2015 at ESMT in Berlin.

The Center for Leadership Development Research in Berlin, Germany and Kets de Vries Institute (KDVI) held for the 7th time the now legendary ESMT/KDVI Coaching Colloquium. The topic for 2015 was “Coaching Leaders for Followership”. The Colloquium continues to serve as an opportunity for academics, practicing leadership coaches, Human Resources and Learning and Development professionals, and management consultants to enhance their knowledge, skills, and networks through intensive collaboration and peer-consultation on challenging or unusual cases in the practice of executive coaching.

During the Colloquium we worked with real cases presented by real coaches, faculty, and learning and development managers and commented upon by fellow professionals. We continued building on our previous experience of creating a real coaching development laboratory with an opportunity to learn and to contribute to the learning of others.

ESMT Organizational Behavior Workshop

October 17, 2014 at ESMT Campus, Berlin

The workshop was organized by Prof. Zhike Lei around research presentations and massive dialogues on emerging topics of cutting-edging OB research. Especially, the topics covered the areas of error management, team adaptation, and leadership new frontier. The goal was to identify interesting research questions, outline an academic research agenda, and promote research collaboration.

Organizational Behavior Workshop and Mini-conference

Professor Laura Guillén hosted a two-day event in Organizational Behavior at ESMT, in cooperation with the Center for Leadership Development Research (CLDR). 4th International Coaching Research Forum: Defining moments in coaching: Shaping a future

February 8-9, 2012 in Hong Kong.

This is the second time CLDR runs this important event in the field of coaching research and practice together with the Institute of Coaching. The previous conference, the 3rd International Coaching Research Forum, took place in December 2010 at ESMT Campus in Berlin. Acknowledging the growth of coaching worldwide, it was decided to conduct the current meeting in Asia Pacific region, namely, Hong Kong

International Leadership Association's Conference: Living the Work: Leadership Coaching from the Inside Out

October 27–30, 2010 in Boston, MA, USA at the Marriot Copley Place in Downtown Boston

Konstantin Korotov commentated a the panel discussion that seeked to collapse the dichotomy inherent in the vision of work on one side of the scale and life on the other, replacing it with a model of fully, authentically living the work. Panelists spoke to their own deep personal insights, ongoing struggles toward change, pure moments of grace – while moving toward a cohesion where all is fodder for learning, engagement, teaching, becoming.


3rd Annual International Coaching Research Forum: The Future of Coaching in 3-D

December 13-14, 2010 on ESMT Campus in Berlin.

The Center for Leadership Development Research at ESMT European School of Management and Technology and the Institute of Coaching at Harvard University conduct this two day event, which will bring together leading academics, executive coaches, and HR practitioners interested in building bridges between the rapidly growing industry of executive coaching and the scientific investigation of coaching principles, processes, and results. The Third International Coaching Research Forum serves as a research incubator for defining the future intellectual agenda for coaching thinkers, researchers, practitioners, and users.

David (Harvard), and Carol Kauffman (Harvard).

  • Manfred Kets de Vries (ESMT and INSEAD) and Konstantin Korotov organized a research Caucus at the Academy of Management Annual Conference in Montreal, Canada in August 2010 with the theme “Daring to Coach Leaders, Caring for People and Organizations: Issues in Research on Coaching.”
