Johannes Habel

Johannes Habel is an associate professor and ESMT Berlin’s expert for the topic of sales management. Johannes' primary areas of interest are the digital transformation of the sales function as well as sales psychology.

Johannes' research has been published in some of the world's most renowned academic management journals, such as the Journal of Marketing, the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, and the International Journal of Research in Marketing. Furthermore, Johannes has published case studies with Harvard Business Publishing and The Case Centre as well as managerial articles with journals such as Harvard Business Manager and European Business Review.

Beyond conducting research, Johannes teaches in many of ESMT’s open and customized executive education programs, serves as a keynote speaker, and contributes to ESMT’s MBA and Master programs. In addition, Johannes has taught for leading universities in Europe (Imperial College, SDA Bocconi, Vlerick Business School, ESCP Europe, Mannheim University, HEC Lausanne), America (Yale School of Management, Darden School of Business, Saint Paul Escola de Negocios), Asia (CKGSB, Guanghua School of Management, Renmin University, IDC Herzliya), and Africa (GIBS Business School, Addis Ababa University).

At ESMT Berlin, Johannes also serves as a co-director of the Hidden Champions Institute (HCI), which focuses on internationally leading larger medium-sized companies.

Before joining ESMT Berlin, Johannes worked as a strategy consultant for Booz & Company (today Strategy&) and as a radio journalist for several years. Johannes studied business administration at Mannheim University and completed his doctorate in sales management at Bochum University. He also graduated from Harvard Business School’s Global Colloquium on Participant-Centered Learning.
