Guided campus tours
Visitors are welcome to join one of our guided tours through the ESMT Berlin Campus, which is located in the historical center of Berlin at Schlossplatz 1.
In 2006 the business school’s campus was opened in the former State Council Building of the German Democratic Republic. The campus building, listed as a historical monument, is located directly opposite the newly constructed Berlin City Palace. The “Museum Island”, the Federal Foreign Office, the Berlin Cathedral, the Berlin city hall, and Humboldt University are also direct neighbors.
The State Council building is an integral part of German history. Built from 1962 to 1964, it represents the central expression of architectural modernity in the German Democratic Republic. Integrated into the building’s structure is the only surviving section of the Berlin City Palace, the “Portal IV,” from whose balcony the socialist politician Karl Liebknecht should have proclaimed the “Socialist Republic” in 1918. The list of political personalities who worked in the State Council building ranges from Walter Ulbricht to the former Federal Chancellor Gerhard Schröder. The today’s conference room ‘FORUM’ was his office from 1999 to 2001.
The foyer of the main building is always accessible to visitors. However, if you want to get deeper insights, you can take part in the public free guided tours.
