One of our professors (Martin Schweinsberg) is seeking a highly motivated research assistant. The research assistant is ideally a (research) master’s student who considers applying for a PhD and wants to get some research experience. The research assistant could potentially become a co-author on certain research projects depending on type and extent of contribution made.

Research Assistant

As Research Assistant you will

  • work with data sets using programs such as R, SPSS, Stata, and Excel
  • help prepare experimental materials
  • conduct literature reviews
  • engage in project management for research projects across multiple time zones and countries with researchers from around the world

You are qualified because you

  • bachelor’s degree in economics, maths, engineering, psychology, or another business-related field

Description

This project investigates innovation processes in the pharmaceutical industry. In particular, we seek to empirically link how regulation of intellectual property rights (patents, data exclusivity periods) affect firms’ incentive to invest in risky R&D projects. The study exploits large-scale data on drug development processes, patents linked to the underlying molecules as well as company information.

Your tasks will include

  • working with large-scale data using statistical software packages (STATA, R) and possibly SQL
  • assisting in econometric data analyses which includes cleaning and merging of databases, identification of additional data sources and preliminary descriptive analyses

You are qualified for this position, because you

  • are currently enrolled in a bachelor / master program
  • have a background in Economics or Business Administration (desirable but not compulsory)
  • are proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc)
  • have good English (reading and writing) skills
  • have experience handling large datasets (highly desirable)
  • have programming skills (STATA, R and helpful is SQL)

Das Portfoliomanagement-Programm (PMP) ist eine Bildungsinitiative der P&K Pühringer Gemeinnützigen Stiftung, der ZZ Vermögensberatung (Schweiz) AG, der ESMT Berlin und der Humboldt Universität. Über einen Zeitraum von 2 Jahren erhalten 18 Studenten pro Jahr die Möglichkeit, aktiv ein Portfolio zu verwalten. Im ersten Jahr erlernen die Studenten das notwendige Praxiswissen, welches sie im zweiten Jahr dann umsetzen können. Insgesamt stehen den Studenten 3 Portfolios zu je EUR 1 Million zur Verfügung.

Zur organisatorischen Unterstützung des Programms suchen wir ab sofort eine/n

Studentische Hilfskraft / Student Assistant – Office Administration
(m/w, ca. 8-12 Stunden/Woche, 11,20 €/Stunde)

Als studentische Hilfskraft werden Sie

die Mentoren und Tutoren unterstützen, sowie sich um die fortlaufende Organisation des Programms kümmern. Bei Interesse an der Thematik kann die Tätigkeit auch inhaltliche Themen umfassen (optional).

Unterstützung der Tutoren bei der Planung und Organisation des Programms:

  • Erstellung der PMP Meeting-Schedules
  • Betreuung der Moodle-Lernplattform des PMPs
  • Mitarbeit bei der Konzeption des Lehrplans gemeinsam mit den Professoren
  • Anwesenheit bei PMP Meetings (Freitagnachmittag in Schöneberg, ca. 2 x pro Monat)

Sie sind qualifiziert, weil Sie

  • can fluently communicate (written and verbal) in English and German
  • are able to work independently with strong attention to details

Internships for Refugees

We are looking for motivated Interns (m/f)

As an intern you will

  • work in one of the departments of ESMT in an international team
  • support the corresponding department with general office and administrative tasks

You should apply if you

  • have first experience from other administrative positions in your home country
  • have first experience with programs of the MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
  • can communicate well in English and/or German

This is what we can offer you

  • Three-month orientation internships in one of the most international working environments in the heart of Berlin, where you will work closely in one of our teams
  • Upon your start as an intern we will provide thorough training to prepare you for your new responsibilities, and will introduce you to the German and international work environment
  • For your internship you will be compensated with 400 €/month
  • The internship will be 40 hours/week. Fewer hours are also possible, e.g. if you need to take German classes
