Women's Leadership Excellence
Despite the evidence that businesses improve their performance with more women in leadership positions, many companies are not taking advantage of the positive effects of having more women in decision-making roles. Women’s Leadership Excellence (WLE) provides a practical agenda for realizing the advantages of diverse leadership teams and supporting business women to maximize their impact.
Women’s Leadership Excellence will equip female leaders with the competence and skills to create, explore, and feel comfortable using the value that their gender brings to leadership. In a supportive and collaborative atmosphere, participants will learn how to overcome bias, strengthen their leadership talents, evaluate their career options, and acquaint themselves with networks supporting women in business. They will challenge pre-held notions of fairness and learn how to emphasize both their self-development and that of others.
Female managers and leaders in middle to senior leadership roles, who have managerial responsibility within their organization or are leading large projects. Of special interest to companies in industries challenged by talent shortages and where women are underrepresented.
Participants will learn from the latest research and thinking on how and why gender diversity is the key to sustainable organizational success. After challenging the ideas of stereotypes and bias in team performance, participants will learn which skills and characteristics support - and which hinder - their individual career progress, as well as how to maximize their impact as female leaders.

Annie's focus at ESMT Berlin is on business transformation and change. Having worked and been educated internationally, she understands first-hand the complexities of cross border communication and change leadership. Prior to joining ESMT Berlin, she led a range of transformation programs for Old Mutual, AXA, AECOM, Bombardier Transportation and Woolworth Holding South Africa. Her research interest lies in compassion as an organizational norm – leaders using new mental models, cognition, mentoring and coaching to address disruption. She teaches executives in global partnering, digital disruption, change management & communication worldwide and is an experienced executive coach. Annie graduated in Management Sciences from Warwick Business School, holds an MBA from CASS Business School and received her M.Sc. from Edinburgh Business School in Strategic Focus.
Konstantin Korotov is an associate professor of organizational behavior and the director of the ESMT Center for Leadership Development Research (CLDR), which he co-founded with Professor Manfred Kets de Vries. In addition to his academic work, he has more than 20 years of practical management and leadership development experience in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and the Americas. Konstantin conducts research on leadership development, leadership coaching, careers, and executive education. He has authored, co-authored, and coedited six books and multiple academic and practitioner articles, business cases, and book chapters on leadership development and executive coaching. He has won multiple awards for his case studies, articles, and teaching excellence. Konstantin is a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Leadership and Organizational Studies. Additionally, he is the founder of the ESMT Coaching Colloquia series – premier professional development events for the world’s leading executive coaches.
Laura Guillén joined ESMT Berlin as an Assistant Professor in September 2010. She holds a combined BS. and MBA degree in Business Administration from ESADE. After finishing university, she joined the Unilever ice-cream division in Barcelona where she became passionate not only about ice-cream but about the psychological issues revolving around self- and social perceptions at work. With the hope to understand these ‘people issues’ better, she returned to the academic world and completed her PhD at ESADE in the area of organizational behavior.
While working on her PhD, she got a second BS. in Psychology from the National University of Distance Education UNED, Madrid, Spain and was trained as a professional coach. She worked as a research fellow for the European Social Survey, where she received in-depth training in social sciences methods. Prior to joining ESMT, she won a Marie Curie Scholarship from the European Commission to join INSEAD as a post-doctoral fellow. During her post-doc, she earned a Diploma in Clinical Organizational Psychology (INSEAD).
Her research interests include identity, authenticity, the bright and dark sides of leadership, gender, diversity, and social perceptions. Her work has been presented at numerous international research conferences and has been published in internationally renowned journals.
Andreas Bernhardt is executive development advisor and lead coach at ESMT Berlin, a founding member of ESMT's Center for Leadership Development Research, and manages ESMT's pool of executive coaches. He has over 20 years of practical leadership development experience with executives from more than 30 countries and has designed and delivered executive programs for several international companies. He is also an executive coach with the Global Leadership Centre at INSEAD, one of the world's leading business schools.
He teaches and coaches in the areas of leadership, organizational behavior, coaching, negotiations, and change in MBA, Executive MBA, Open Enrollment, and company-specific executive programs.
